[Andy] They led the ♦10 to the A and returned a diamond. I ruffed and from there did not have any trouble drawing trumps and knocking out the ♥A. After the hand, my opponent observed that the ♦K opening lead would have been more challenging.

Given the splinter and the stiff trump, maybe the K is actually a possible lead! That would be pretty spectacular. One of those things where you can argue after the fact that you could have seen it before the fact, but actually seeing it before the fact is a different story.
